Al Mutlaq Group is well known in Saudi Arabia as a manufacturer, retailer and contractor. We were approached to rebrand Al Mutlaq with a view to modernise the brand and to ensure longevity through well planned brand architecture. As with the original branding we wanted to focus the “M” in Al Mutlaq, steering away from the “A” in Al Mutlaq, as this only served as “The” in Arabic. Therefore, in our design the significance is on the name ‘Mutlaq’.
We had several strong concepts and the main theory behind the concepts was the combination of Arabic heritage meets Western business. Luckily I had some gifted arabic calligraphers/typographers in my team, namely Misbah Hammoud and Tarek El Assi who were very influential in the generation of the final design. The final concepts both drew on the integration of “M” in English and “مـ” in Arabic to create a balanced, modern mark.
